On the 25th of August 2023, our Diploma of Psychology students embarked on an enlightening educational journey to Hospital Mesra Bukit Padang. This educational trip offered them a unique opportunity to explore various facets of mental health, special needs care, and rehabilitation.
Our students began their day by immersing themselves in the world of psychiatry. They had the unique opportunity to observe and learn from dedicated medical professionals, gaining firsthand experience in the assessment and treatment of mental health conditions. Witnessing the compassionate care provided to patients in this ward was truly eye-opening.
Next stop was the Special Needs Children Ward, which houses a remarkable Sensory Room, a place where magic happens. This innovative space, designed to stimulate and engage the senses, left our students with a profound understanding of the importance of tailored care for children with special needs.
Our students then ventured into the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Ward, witnessing the incredible progress made by patients through therapeutic interventions. The trip culminated in the garden, where students saw the integration of gardening into physiotherapy rehabilitation. This serene space offers patients a chance to engage in gardening activities, promoting physical and emotional healing.
This educational trip was an exceptional opportunity for our Diploma of Psychology students to witness the convergence of theory and practice in the healthcare industry. It reinforced the importance of empathy, compassion, and multidisciplinary collaboration in the field of psychology and healthcare.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Hospital Mesra Bukit Padang for hosting our students and sharing their expertise. These experiences have undoubtedly enriched our students' academic journey and prepared them to make a positive impact in the world of psychology.
