About The School

The School of Foundation & General Studies offers programmes aimed at providing students with the knowledge required to further their ambition of pursuing diploma or degree courses in the field of health sciences. It has two programmes parked under its umbrella; Foundation of Health Sciences and Certificate in Science. Both programmes have attained full accreditation status by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

 

Chelven Lim Ai Chen, Programme Coordinator

Chelven obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2003 with the completion of her final year project entitled “Cloning of Omega-3 Fatty Acid Desaturase from Oil Palm”.

In 2008, she obtained her MSc. in Molecular Biology from University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) with the project entitled “Development of PCR-RFLP Based Techniques for Meat Identification”. Upon completion of her post-graduate studies, she started working as Research Assistant in UMS continuing the research project on developing methods based on Real-Time PCR for authentication of raw and processed meats.

She joined Cyberjaya College Kota Kinabalu in 2009 as a lecturer and is currently serving as the Programme Coordinator for Foundation in Health Sciences and Certificate in Science.

Foundation of Health Sciences

This programme is designed to offer an excellent and worthy pre-university education that will augment the relevant pathway towards achieving industry related careers specifically in the field of healthcare.

Certificate In Science

Certificate in Science is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and basic scientific skills for them to perform effectively and ethically within the specific field of science and healthcare. The programme is committed to strengthening students to take on challenging and ever-changing roles by providing the basic concepts and skills as best practices relevant to different fields of science and healthcare. This will also develop career opportunities for graduates and be the engine of growth for our community and nation.
